Following seven years of construction, this backyard project focused on creating a functional, private family space on a minimal, DIY-friendly budget.

• Strategically placed a small, private patio in the enclosed portion of the garden to maximize privacy while still providing adequate space for a family of five.

• Utilized a simple, permeable material palette of gravel and wood to reduce costs while allowing for drainage.

• Installed colorful, cottage-style plantings to provide a beautiful backdrop for the dining roof deck and effectively screen interior living areas from neighbour views.

• Utilised small, containerized plants to maintain a budget-friendly approach while ensuring successful establishment, with hedges and trees integrated for long-term screening and shading.
