Perched on a hill overlooking the city, this property faced significant challenges, including a disjointed and confusing entries, inconsistent and numerous paving materials, a steep, inaccessible hillside, and a lack of shade in gathering areas. The renovation prioritized resolving these constraints while preserving the home's essential outward views of the Bay.
Unified the site by selecting paving materials that complement the home's architecture, and implemented a custom trellis and selected planting to clearly define the main entry.
Installed low retaining walls to create functional pathways and support terraced planting beds on the steep slope.
Designed a custom pergola to provide necessary shade for the pool deck without obstructing the views.
Created diverse zones, including an entertaining patio with panoramic views, secluded quiet areas, a relaxing hammock space, a kitchen garden with fruit trees, and water-wise, fire-resistant plantings with a tropical aesthetic
